This Message was emailed to DJHS Parents and announced at school on February 2nd.
Dear Parent or Guardian,
Due to the high number of tardies, Dalhart Junior High will be enforcing the following beginning Monday, February 5:
First Period tardies will result in Lunch Detention.
3 or more tardies in any class period for the remainder of the semester will result in a full day of In-School Suspension.
For each tardy over 3, students will be assigned one hour of Saturday School. Example 4 tardies = 1 hour, 5 tardies = 2 hours, etc.
Students with 10 or more tardies are at risk of being required to attend Truancy Court.
Remember school starts at 7:50 a.m. each day. The tardy bell rings at 7:55 a.m.
Thank you for helping DJHS encourage the important message of being to school on time, every day.
These students have had a blast showing animals and being involved in the WTAMU Downs Guild.

We were just told that the AT&T Firstnet Satcolt truck has an ETA of 5:00pm. Not sure how long it takes to setup.

Dalhart ISD is an AT&T FirstNet customer. Our Tech department has been in contact with our AT&T/Firstnet reps on the current area outage. During the process a request has been made for a Satcolt to bring temporary service to the area. We were just notified that the Satcolt is on the way.
DISD is still experiencing issues with outgoing long distance calling. We have been told that this is an issue with nationwide upstream providers. Some 806 numbers have been ported around from other carriers and may be effected also. At this time we have no ETA of the fix.

DISD is currently experiencing issues with outgoing phone calls. Incoming calls are not effected at this time.
Due to extreme fog over the area, Dalhart ISD will delay start. School will start at 10:00am. Busses will run 2 hours late.
Dalhart ISD will start school at 10:00AM Wednesday Jan. 10th. In town busses only will run in the morning. Out of town busses will run in the afternoon.

Texas Ed. Code 37.113, Notice to Parents of Dalhart ISD Re. Threatening Statement
We are notifying you that during class today, September 28, 2023, a junior high student made a statement that could be considered a threat to do harm to the school. Upon learning of this possible threat, school administration informed the Dalhart Police Department and convened the District’s Threat Assessment and Safe and Supportive School Team. The administration, in cooperation with law enforcement and after consultation with the Threat Assessment and Safe and Supportive School Team, determined no imminent threat to students or staff exists. The police will determine if any criminal enforcement action is warranted. The District will pursue appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the District’s student code of conduct if a student has engaged in any misconduct involving a threat.
Dalhart ISD administration places student safety as a top priority and will always consider a threat to be credible until determined to be otherwise. We will continue to work diligently to keep your students and our staff safe from harm.
Sincerely Jeff Byrd.
