Just a reminder when coming from Texas Blvd and turning right onto Tennessee Blvd you do have to yield to Pedestrians even if the light is green. We have our Crosswalk staff there from 7:30 am to 7:55 a.m. helping our students get across safely. Also please remember front drop off is ONLY available for our busses and Mrs. El-Far and Ms. Katie's students.
Thanks Hart Chevrolet and GMC for the $1,000 donation through your Back to School program! All staff had the opportunity to test drive their 2024 EV Trail Blazer or Traverse. It was so fun! We are blessed with amazing community partnerships.

Congratulations to our Librarian, Ms. Shannon Wilson, for winning the Eta Upsilon teacher scholarship! She plans to use the money to buy books for our new book vending machine. DES staff and students appreciate Ms. Wilson!!
Dalhart Elementary has decided to hold a Read-a-thon this year!
Read-a-thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more.
Our Read-a-thon starts Monday October 30, 2023.
About one week before our Read-a-thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/3537343830/1 and following the simple instructions.
We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.

A great production by the Dalhart and Dumas Fire Departments. Our kids enjoyed learning about the importance of fire safety at home.
DES staff want to THANK our parents and students for coming to Literacy Night last night and stopping by our book fair. We had hundreds of parents and students and we made over $4500 in our Book Fair! We appreciate the support and enjoyed spending the evening with our students and parents!
Mrs. Borunda's Kinder class helped the DES custodians celebrate National Custodian's Day this morning!
Get ready! Our Scholastic Book Fair is starting next week, Monday, October 3 - Friday. October 6! Don't miss out on our Literacy Night on Tuesday from 5:30-6:30. See you there!

Texas Ed. Code 37.113, Notice to Parents of Dalhart ISD Re. Threatening Statement
We are notifying you that during class today, September 28, 2023, a junior high student made a statement that could be considered a threat to do harm to the school. Upon learning of this possible threat, school administration informed the Dalhart Police Department and convened the District’s Threat Assessment and Safe and Supportive School Team. The administration, in cooperation with law enforcement and after consultation with the Threat Assessment and Safe and Supportive School Team, determined no imminent threat to students or staff exists. The police will determine if any criminal enforcement action is warranted. The District will pursue appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the District’s student code of conduct if a student has engaged in any misconduct involving a threat.
Dalhart ISD administration places student safety as a top priority and will always consider a threat to be credible until determined to be otherwise. We will continue to work diligently to keep your students and our staff safe from harm.
