Texas Ed. Code 37.113, Notice to Parents of Dalhart ISD Re. Threatening Statement We are notifying you that during class today, September 28, 2023, a junior high student made a statement that could be considered a threat to do harm to the school. Upon learning of this possible threat, school administration informed the Dalhart Police Department and convened the District’s Threat Assessment and Safe and Supportive School Team. The administration, in cooperation with law enforcement and after consultation with the Threat Assessment and Safe and Supportive School Team, determined no imminent threat to students or staff exists. The police will determine if any criminal enforcement action is warranted. The District will pursue appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the District’s student code of conduct if a student has engaged in any misconduct involving a threat. Dalhart ISD administration places student safety as a top priority and will always consider a threat to be credible until determined to be otherwise. We will continue to work diligently to keep your students and our staff safe from harm. Sincerely Jeff Byrd.
