We have had several concerned parents call in regards to traveling to Canadian this evening. Under the circumstances and the events this past week we completely understand and respect those concerns. 1. As a parent you have a right to choose to keep your child home tonight. We have spoken with the coaches and the cheer sponsor and if you choose to keep your child home this evening there will be no consequences or punishments for them missing tonight's games. 2. We are monitoring the fog conditions currently. 3. We have spoken with administrations with multiple school districts between Dalhart and Canadian and will continue to do so, but as of right now we feel that the travel conditions are safe. 4. We have built in additional travel time and are releasing students to leave early where we can take our time and travel as safely as possible. 5. Canadian ISD has offered their gymnasium and facilities for as long as we might need them after the basketball games. 6. We will have administrators at the games tonight and in the event that we can not travel safely tonight we will get hotel rooms for our staff and students and return to Dalhart tomorrow morning. As of aright now we are planning on the buses leaving Dalhart at 1:00. Sincerely, Jeff Byrd
