DHS has an open campus for lunch for students in grades 9-12. We understand that some parents may be concerned about their child(ren) leaving at lunch. Please know that we will have very good, hot lunches available everyday in the cafeteria for those students who do not leave campus.
If parents are not available to pick up their child(ren) at lunch, it is permissible for older siblings or other family members to pick them up. This year, they do not need to be signed out at lunch.
Please note that Texas state law states that students with a driver’s license under 18 may not have more that one (1) passenger under the age of 21 who is not a family member in the vehicle.
Local law enforcement officials will be monitoring traffic at lunch as well as before and after school. Please talk to your child(ren) about obeying the laws, watching out for others, and being responsible as they drive.
If you have any questions about open campus lunch, please do not hesitate to call the school.
