The Dalhart Intermediate Campus was placed into a secure lock-in for a brief period of time this afternoon, due to law enforcement activity in the neighborhood.
There is and was at no time an immediate threat. We took these precautions for the safety of our students and faculty. School resumed in a very short period of time, classes were operational during the secure lock-in.

The High School Varsity playoff game vs Idalou will be rescheduled at a later date.
All other campuses will release at regular time. All other schools buses will run at regular time. Students at Dalhart High School will call for rides if needed. Parents can pick up students at any campus if needed.
Notice to Parents – immediate release
Please be advised that a firearm was accidentally discharged in a vehicle in the parking lot of Dalhart High School and a student was injured. All campuses were placed in lock down. State and local law enforcement were immediately at the scene. In cooperation with law enforcement, it has been determined that there is NO present threat to any Dalhart ISD campus or facility and all students ARE safe. The High School will be released at 2:00 p.m. and students will contact parents as needed. All other campuses will be released at normal time.
